#cancelNetflix trends as subscribers blast streaming service for releasing controversial film “cutie “
Last month, Netflix was called out after the poster and trailer of their latest film “ Cuties ” were released. After facing backlash from the promotional side, many subscribers were hoping they would entirely cancel the film’s premiere as they accuse Netflix of sexualizing children in the new film.
In response to the backlash last month, Netflix released a statement addressing the backlash they received from just the trailer and the poster and said, “We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for ‘Cuties.’ It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film, which premiered at Sundance. We’ve now updated the pictures and the description.
However, the film still premiered on the streaming service on September 9th as promised. Viewers who took a look at the movie, and the provocative dance moves that were being performed by the children in the film, blasted Netflix on social media with the hashtag #CancelNetflix. Some of the viewers have been sharing screenshots to show proof that they were canceling their Netflix subscriptions.
The film’s description reads;
“Eleven-year-old Amy starts to rebel against her conservative family’s traditions when she becomes fascinated with a free-spirited dance crew.”

The 11 year old girls who were sexually exploited filming Cuties shot those scenes in front of a director, a DP, a gaffer, their parents, a choreographer, a MUA, a hair person, a camera assistant, a wardrobe person, extras and more. Not one adult protected them. #CancelNetflix

Over 600,000 ppl have signed a Change petition pledging to cancel their #Netflix subscriptions.
If each signee had an account & canceled, at $12.99 a month, this would be $7.8 million MONTHLY that @Netflix has lost.
That’s $93 million a year.
