Daniel Kaluuya Nominated for 2021 BAFTA Film Award
The nominees for the 2021 BAFTA Film Awards have officially been revealed to honour the best British and international contributions to film in the past year!
Nominations were announced by BAFTA Chair Krishnendu Majumdar and actresses Aisling Bea and Susan Wokom in a live stream on YouTube this afternoon (March 9).
During the stream, it was revealed Camden’s very own Daniel Kaluuya has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Judas & The Black Messiah, where he plays American activist and Black Panther member, Fred Hampton, who was assassinated at 21 in 1969.
Kaluuya is up against the likes of Barry Keoghan, Alan Kim and Leslie Odom Jr., Clarke Peters and Paul Raci.
The late Chadwick Boseman has also been nominated for Best Leading Actor for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, with Riz Ahmed being nominated in the same category.
The gripping historical legal drama The Trial Of The Chicago 7 has been acknowledged in the Best Film category where it’s up against The Mauritanian, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman and The Father – with the latter two receiving six nominations each.
The ceremony for the 2021 BAFTA Film Awards will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on April 11 without an audience due to coronavirus restrictions.
