Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Afeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). After the news of his arrest hit social media, many Nigerians reacted in different ways including a popular police officer, Dolapo Badmus.
Badmus took to her Instagram page to shade Marley. She posted a photo with a caption that reads: “The only authentic Naira I know is Nigeria’s legal tender. Any other naira attached to something is a counterfeit! #bearolemodel #saynotointernetfraud #ifyousupportyahoobusinessyouareillegal #dontdestroynigeria #stopgivingunneccesaryexcuseforfraud #ifyousupportyahoomayyoubeavictim”
The reason for Marley’s arrest is not yet known but the singer is reportedly being investigated by the EFCC. Marley’s arrest might not be unrelated to the singer’s recent comments endorsing cybercrime popularly called Yahoo Yahoo. The Issa Goal singer has somewhat become an advocate for cybercrime as he even bashed other celebs who tried to go against his views on the subject.
In other news, Dailygist.uk reported that Naira Marley urged Nigerians to pray for Yahoo boys because they make money circulate and not politicians. In a recent live video he recorded on Instagram, the singer urged Nigerians to pray for Yahoo boys rather than berate them. He noted that Yahoo boys make their money go round.
He said: “All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it’s the government that is making the money go round? You better sit down and pray for yahoo boys. If them stop yahoo, the money would not pass you guys. “The money will go like this, from Obasanjo to Tinubu, from Tinubu to Mr Japa, you think me I need Yahoo? I make money from my music.”
