Naya Rivera body found in the lake after 5 days
Naya Rivera: A body has been found at the Southern California lake where former “Glee” actress Naya Rivera disappeared, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced in a tweet Monday.
The body, which has not been identified, was discovered Monday morning at Lake Piru.
“Recovery is in progress,” tweeted the VCSO.
A news conference is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s department has notified Rivera’s family and the medical examiner’s office of the body found in Lake Piru, Capt Eric Buschow said Monday morning.
The 33-year-old US star is believed to have drowned in Lake Piru, northwest of Los Angeles after she rented a boat with her young son last Wednesday.
Rivera’s four-year-old son, Josey Hollis Dorsey, was discovered alone in the boat, asleep and wearing a life jacket on Wednesday afternoon.
He told investigators he and his mother went swimming and he got back on the boat, but “his mum never made it out of the water,” sheriff’s sergeant Kevin Donoghue said on Sunday.

The little boy saw his mother “disappear beneath the water”, Sgt Donoghue said earlier.
Search teams have been scouring the large lake since Rivera’s disappearance, with divers and teams using sonar equipment as they continued the search on Monday.
