University of Lagos, UNILAG VC Oluwatoyin Ogundipe sacked
The governing council of the University of Lagos, UNILAG has sacked Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as the vice-chancellor, VC of the school.
Mr Ogundipe was removed at the council’s meeting held Wednesday at the headquarters of the National Universities Commission, Abuja.
In attendance were at least 11 council members, the VC included, majority of whom voted for the removal of Mr. Ogundipe.
Mr Ogundipe was accused of financial impropriety and gross misconduct.
Two Senate representatives in the Governing Council of the school however criticized the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Wale Babalakin over his role in the sack of the Vice-Chancellor, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.
Professor Olukemi Odukoya and Bola Oboh, in different statements, pointed fingers at Babalakin adding that Ogundipe was not given an opportunity to defend himself against accusations of corruption.
